Scholarship Applications Available

Now is the time to apply for our annual Scholarship. All members and their children are welcome to apply. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Applicant must be a referee in good standing or the child of a referee in good standing.
  2. Applicant must submit a transcript of grades for the past year and the latest available marking period of 2018.
  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation from: (1) A past or present employer, (2) A school representative and (3) A personal friend or acquaintance or clergy person. (No LISRA Board Member may write a letter of recommendation).
  4. A letter from the applicant expressing why he or she feels that they should be awarded a scholarship.
  5. Letters and transcripts must be received before April 30, 2018. All paperwork should be addressed to the LISRA office. (Make certain to write LISRA)
  6. The April 30 deadline will be strictly enforced.
  7. All scholarship winners are required to appear in person to accept this award. We have meetings on the second Thursday of each month and you will be welcome to attend the meeting in May or June, your choice.

The USSF Referee Course Grade 9 - Melville

 

The next USSF Entry Level Referee Course Grade 9 (not a school grade) to become an Assistant Referee is open for registration. This class fills up quickly. Once full, the class will be closed, so register ASAP! No walk-ins will be accepted.

Earn $30-$42 per game.

You must be at least 14 years old to take this class. No experience necessary.

Location: Hauppauge Middle School, 600 townline Rd., Hauppauge

Saturday, January 12th, 9am - 5pm. Huntington Hilton, 598 Broadhollow Rd., Melville, NY

There is a mandatory parent meeting at 9am. It will be approx. 60-90 minutes to go over the program and to ask questions.

The fee for the course is $180 which includes a uniform.

Uniforms - YL, AS, AM, AL, AXL. You must send an email to Recruitment@lisoccerrefs.org to order a uniform by Sunday December 23rd to receive your uniform at the class.

As part of the Entry Level Referee Course (Grade 9) Requirements, you will need to complete all 17 of the online Grade 9 Referee Course Modules prior to the class. You must enter the State Association NEW YORK - EAST and Clinic Number 26996 in order to get credit for the modules. Take a picture with your smartphone of the certificate that appears at the end of each module for your records and bring to the first day of the course.

Each module is about 4 to 6 minutes long. To complete all 17 modules (Laws) will require about 90 minutes. You can do a little at a time and return later. The link for the Modules is http://www.ussoccer.com/Referees/Resource-Center/Online-Training/Grade-9-Referee-Course.aspx.

There is a online exam at the end of the course. Passing score is 80% or better. If you do not pass, you have 1 year to retake future courses or just retake the exam at no charge.

If your child has any learning disabilities or need special arrangements, PLEASE tell the instructors at the START of the class so they can make accommodations.

Once you register in Game Officials, Under Courses, you should see Grade 9 New Referees. Click Course 26996 Hauppauge. When you register, choose District 6 - Long Island. If done correctly, you should get an email receipt for the class.

The next Grade 9 class will be on another Saturday in Manorville in February. Date TBD.
