Scholarship Applications Available

Now is the time to apply for our annual Scholarship. All members and their children are welcome to apply. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Applicant must be a referee in good standing or the child of a referee in good standing.
  2. Applicant must submit a transcript of grades for the past year and the latest available marking period of 2018.
  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation from: (1) A past or present employer, (2) A school representative and (3) A personal friend or acquaintance or clergy person. (No LISRA Board Member may write a letter of recommendation).
  4. A letter from the applicant expressing why he or she feels that they should be awarded a scholarship.
  5. Letters and transcripts must be received before April 30, 2018. All paperwork should be addressed to the LISRA office. (Make certain to write LISRA)
  6. The April 30 deadline will be strictly enforced.
  7. All scholarship winners are required to appear in person to accept this award. We have meetings on the second Thursday of each month and you will be welcome to attend the meeting in May or June, your choice.

The USSF Referee Course Grade 8 - Bethpage

 

The next USSF Advanced Level Center/Assistant Referee Course Grade 8 (not a school grade) is open for registration. You also need to register by Sun December 23rd so we can order uniforms, so register ASAP! No walk-ins will be accepted.

Earn $30-$42 as an AR and $42-$82 as a CR.

This class is for older teenagers and adults.  No experience necessary and you do NOT need to take the Entry Level class as a prerequisite.

Location: Bethpage Library, 47 Powell Ave. Bethpage, NY

You must attend both sessions from 9:00am - 4:30pm

The fee for the course is $205 which includes a uniform.

Uniforms - AS, AM, AL, AXL, 2XL, 3XL. Please email Recruitment@lisoccerrefs.org what size you need by Sunday December 23rd to get them for the class.

As part of the Advanced Level Referee Course (Grade 8) Requirements, you will need to complete all 17 of the online Grade 8 Referee Course Modules prior to the class. You must enter the State Association NEW YORK - EAST and Clinic Number 26992 USSF ID should be left blank.

Each module is about 4 to 6 minutes long. To complete all 17 modules (Laws) will require about 90 minutes. You can do a little at a time and return later. The link for the Modules is http://www.ussoccer.com/Referees/Resource-Center/Online-Training/Grade-8-Referee-Course.aspx.

There is a online exam at the end of the course. Passing score is 80% or better.

If you have any learning disabilities or need special arrangements, PLEASE tell the instructors at the START of the class so they can make accommodations.

Once you register in Game Officials, Under Courses, you should see Grade 8 New Referees. Click Course 26992 Bethpage. When you register, choose District 6 - Long Island. If done correctly, you should get an email receipt for the class.

The next 2 day Advanced Grade 8 class will be in Feb in Suffolk. Dates TBD.
